London: Following the recent attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel, speculation had been growing that Iran might not be able to participate in the upcoming FIFA World Cup. However, the world football governing body, FIFA, has now expressed hope that the Iranian national team will still be able to take part in the tournament despite the ongoing tensions.
According to FIFA, although the current situation remains challenging, there is optimism that Iran will be granted permission to participate in the World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in the United States in June. FIFA believes that the Iranian team will be welcomed in the United States for the competition.
Iran is set to play all its group-stage matches in the United States. The team will begin its campaign on June 15 against New Zealand in Inglewood, California. This will be followed by a match against Belgium on June 21. Iran’s final group-stage game will take place on June 26 in Seattle, where they will face Egypt.
