New Delhi. At this year’s Republic Day parade, an Indian Army contingent will stand out with white uniforms instead of the traditional olive green. The contingent represents a composite detachment of the Army’s Scouts Regiments, which are deployed in icy regions such as Siachen. Soldiers from six Scouts Regiments will march along Kartavya Path—Arunachal, Ladakh, Sikkim, Dogra, Kumaon, and Garhwal Scouts.
Dressed in pure white uniforms, boots, and black sunglasses, these troops symbolize their role in guarding the nation’s borders in extreme cold conditions. The Scouts Regiments, themed “Sons of the Soil,” are specially trained in mountain warfare and possess exceptional expertise in combat operations across high-altitude and rugged terrain.
