New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday confirmed that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for 2026–27 on February 1. This year, the Budget will be presented on a Sunday.
Responding to a question at a press conference, the Lok Sabha Speaker said that the Finance Minister will begin presenting the Budget in the Lower House at 11:00 a.m. on February 1. The Budget Session of Parliament will commence on January 28 and continue until April 2.
As the customary Budget presentation date of February 1 falls on a Sunday this year, there had been some uncertainty regarding the exact date. The Lok Sabha Speaker has now clarified the matter.
Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had stated that the first phase of the Budget Session would begin on January 28 and conclude on February 13.
