New Delhi: A shocking case has emerged involving the suspicious deaths of a young man from Haldwani, Uttarakhand, and his friend, who had come to Delhi to resolve an ongoing family dispute with his wife. The bodies of both men were recovered near Mandawali Railway Station in Delhi, bearing deep injury marks. Following this double death, there has been an outpouring of grief among the families of the deceased, who have alleged that the incident was a premeditated murder carried out as part of a deliberate conspiracy.
According to available information, 32-year-old Ravi Gupta, a resident of Vailejli Lodge in Haldwani, was married around ten years ago to Anjali, a resident of Mandawali, Delhi. For some time, marital discord had been ongoing between the couple, and the matter had reached the Delhi Police’s women’s helpline. In an effort to resolve the dispute, Ravi was called to Delhi for counseling on January 5. He traveled from Haldwani to Delhi along with his eight-year-old son Abhimanyu and his friend Golu Sharma (24).
After reaching Delhi, Ravi left his son at his in-laws’ home and went to meet his wife for counseling. However, from that point onward, there was no information regarding the whereabouts of Ravi and his friend.
Serious questions are also being raised about the functioning of the Delhi Police in this case. Family members allege that they were informed about the incident after an undue delay. Ravi’s body was found near Mandawali Railway Station on January 5 itself, yet despite the fact that he was carrying identification documents such as his Aadhaar card and PAN card, the police did not notify the family in time. The following day, on January 6, the body of Ravi’s friend Golu Sharma was also recovered from the same area. Golu was an auto-rickshaw driver in Haldwani and was originally a resident of Bareilly.
