Melbourne: Cricket Australia (CA) has announced its provisional 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held next month in India and Sri Lanka. Mitchell Marsh has been appointed as the captain of the team. Notably, the squad includes three specialist spinners for the first time, reflecting a greater emphasis on bowling.

However, the exclusion of aggressive batter Mitchell Owen has surprised many. The squad also does not feature any left-arm fast bowlers.

Spinner Matthew Kuhnemann, all-rounder Cooper Connolly, and fast bowler Xavier Bartlett have received their maiden call-ups to the team. Connolly’s selection, in particular, has raised eyebrows, as he had not featured in any of the last 12 T20 international matches.
