Dhaka. Incidents of violence and human rights violations have seen a sharp increase in Bangladesh just 12 days before voting for the general elections. According to a report, 21 people were killed in mob lynching incidents in January, compared to 10 such deaths in December 2025. During this period, election-related violence claimed four lives and left more than five people injured. Violence against minorities has also escalated, with 21 incidents of damage to temples reported. The number of deaths in police and judicial custody has risen to 15. Due to administrative negligence and inaction, several cases have emerged highlighting the violation of human dignity and health standards within prisons.
