Kolkata. After the BJP’s sweeping victory in Bihar, the Trinamool Congress has sharply countered and issued a stern warning over a statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following the resounding win in the Bihar Assembly elections, Prime Minister Modi had said that just as the Ganga flows from Bihar into Bengal, the victory in Bihar would pave the way for the BJP’s triumph in West Bengal as well. He also claimed that in the upcoming elections, the BJP would uproot the “jungle raj” from Bengal too.
PM Modi’s remarks triggered a strong reaction from the TMC. Senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh stated that the BJP’s dreams in Bengal have turned upside down like a flipped turtle, and that Mamata Banerjee will return to power with an overwhelming majority even in 2026. Ghosh added that while the BJP fought parties like the Congress in Bihar, the TMC in Bengal is fully prepared to counter every allegation. “Bihar’s formula will not work in Bengal,” he asserted.
