New Delhi: In the coming months, three new SUVs are expected to enter the Indian automobile market, potentially giving strong competition to the Hyundai Creta in terms of design, features, and performance.
Starting with the Renault Duster Hybrid, the company is likely to launch it around the Diwali season. This SUV is expected to feature a 1.8-liter petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery. It will be capable of operating in electric mode for up to 80% of city driving, with a claimed fuel savings of around 40%. Additionally, the total driving range could reach up to 1,000 kilometers, making it a strong contender for long-distance travel.
Meanwhile, Nissan is also preparing to launch its new SUV, the Nissan Tecton, in the near future. This model will replace the Terrano and will be based on the Renault Duster platform. It is expected to come with 1.0-liter and 1.3-liter turbo petrol engine options. In terms of design, the SUV will feature sharper headlights, a larger grille, and 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it a more aggressive appearance.
Apart from these, Volkswagen is set to launch the facelifted version of the Volkswagen Taigun on April 9. The updated model will include a redesigned front and rear, connected headlamps, an illuminated logo, and new alloy wheels. While there may not be any changes to the engine, the transmission system could receive an upgrade.
