FIIs Have Sold Shares Worth ₹1.57 Lakh Crore So Far This Year

New Delhi: Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have sold shares worth ₹1.57 lakh crore so far this year, exceeding last year’s outflow of ₹1.21 lakh crore. The highest selling occurred in January, amounting to nearly ₹78,000 crore. In the current financial year 2025-26, FIIs have already sold shares worth ₹40,227 crore. The selling continued in December as well, with ₹13,177 crore worth of shares sold so far this month.

Despite heavy selling, the BSE Sensex surged from 78,507 to 85,408, marking a gain of nearly 9%. Similarly, the NSE Nifty-50 index rose approximately 9% in 2025. The total capital of listed companies increased from ₹444 lakh crore to ₹475 lakh crore this year.

Gold prices also rose this year, reaching ₹1.40 lakh per 10 grams, while silver prices increased from ₹1.77 lakh to ₹2.27 lakh per kilogram.
