New Delhi — Appearing almost insignificant, this weapon has already cleared multiple areas in a single operation. It attacks adversaries in swarms, and its small size doubles its effectiveness because it becomes very difficult to catch. Rapidly adopted in modern warfare, this weapon is an unmanned aircraft commonly referred to as a micro-drone. The destructive potential of these systems is evident from the fact that they are deployed on intelligence missions—such as detecting hostile plots—and are also used to carry lethal payloads to the battlefield. These drones are capable of causing severe damage even across large urban areas. Micro-drones operating in coordinated swarms can trap an enemy in a way that makes escape nearly impossible: hundreds of small drones converge to form a “death swarm” in the sky and then launch a devastating attack. Their compact size makes them easy to conceal from enemy observation, although they cannot travel long distances. At very low cost, these short-range micro-drones have proven to be highly effective for precision strikes against nearby targets.
