New Delhi: Amid the escalating military conflict in West Asia, the Ministry of Petroleum stated on Monday that it is closely monitoring the evolving situation. The government affirmed that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the availability of key petroleum products across the country at affordable prices.

India imports 88 percent of its crude oil requirements and nearly half of its natural gas needs. A significant portion of these supplies passes through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has closed following attacks by the United States and Israel.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri conducted a review meeting with senior ministry officials and representatives of public sector companies to assess the supply situation of crude oil, LPG, and other petroleum products.
