New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed state governments to keep a close watch on provocative statements issued by pro-Iran radical preachers that could potentially incite violence following the alleged attack on Iran by the United States and Israel.
According to officials, in a letter dated February 28 addressed to all states, the Ministry urged both states and Union Territories to closely monitor the activities of extremists and global terrorist organizations on social media platforms. The advisory emphasized the need to ensure that no law-and-order issues arise and called for heightened vigilance, noting that international developments can have repercussions within the country.
The letter further instructed states to strengthen security measures around the consulates, embassies, and other diplomatic establishments of the United States and Israel located within their jurisdictions, as well as institutions associated with these countries. The objective is to prevent any untoward incidents and to maintain peace and communal harmony.
On Sunday, members of the Shia community staged protests in various parts of India to express anger and grief over the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in the United States–Israel attack.
