Tensions Emerge Between BJP and JD(U) Over Speaker and Ministerial Posts in Bihar

Uncategorized

New Delhi. Following the sweeping victory of the NDA in the Bihar Assembly elections, the process of forming a new government under the leadership of Nitish Kumar is underway at full pace. As of 18 November 2025, the two main alliance partners — JD(U) and the BJP — are engaged in intensive discussions over the composition of the cabinet, allocation of key departments, and the selection of the Assembly Speaker.

According to sources, both parties have nearly reached an understanding to distribute ministerial positions almost equally. However, the BJP is firmly insisting on retaining the Speaker’s post, while the JD(U) is also staking a strong claim for it. Political circles suggest that a tug-of-war is ongoing between the two parties regarding these crucial positions.
