Patna: Veteran badminton player Saina Nehwal is currently on a visit to Bihar. During her visit, Saina said that the state has abundant sporting talent, but it needs proper grooming and refinement. The Olympic medalist stated that with quality training, players from Bihar can also emerge at the international level.
She added that the state already has the necessary resources, and with the right guidance, athletes from Bihar can establish their identity on the global stage. Speaking at the Patliputra Sports Complex, Saina said that talented badminton players from Bihar would be identified and provided with systematic training.
Saina also shared her views on the development of sports in Bihar, particularly highlighting the potential of badminton. She said that Bihar has already made its mark at the global level by hosting national and international sporting events. “I won my first national championship in Patna itself, which is why I have a deep emotional connection with Bihar,” she said.
Saina expressed her readiness to extend all possible support for the development of players from Bihar. She voiced confidence that with the government’s positive sports policy, along with effective guidance from the Sports Department and the Bihar State Sports Authority, international-level athletes will emerge from the state in the coming years.
