New Delhi. Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Africa in December 2025, bilateral relations between India and Ethiopia have strengthened significantly. The visit provided both countries with an opportunity to develop a roadmap for high-priority sectors over the coming decade. According to reports, India–Ethiopia trade ties have evolved over several decades into a multidimensional partnership, anchored in robust merchandise trade as well as Indian investments in Ethiopian industry and infrastructure. Both nations view each other as gateways to broader regions—India to the African Continental Free Trade Area, and Ethiopia to the Indian Ocean and Asian markets—adding a strategic dimension to their trade relationship.
