New Delhi. The human body functions according to a fixed rhythm. When this rhythm remains balanced, it becomes difficult for diseases to take hold in the body. In scientific terms, this rhythm is known as the circadian rhythm, while in Ayurveda it is referred to as dinacharya (daily routine). By following an Ayurvedic daily regimen, the body can not only be strengthened but also kept free from illness for a long time.
According to Ayurveda, beginning the day during Brahma Muhurta—the early hours before sunrise—is considered the most beneficial. Waking up early helps maintain freshness and vitality in both body and mind. After attending to natural bodily functions, drinking water stored in a copper vessel is believed to help eliminate toxins from the body. Following this, applying a few drops of oil to the navel is considered beneficial for maintaining healthy skin and hair. Ayurveda also mentions the traditional practice of applying anjan (kohl) as part of proper eye care.
