Snowfall begins in Uttarakhand and Himachal; temperature drops observed in Uttar Pradesh

Snowfall has begun in the hilly regions of North India, particularly in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Its impact is now being felt in Uttar Pradesh as well, where both daytime and nighttime temperatures are gradually declining. The chill is becoming noticeable during the early morning and late evening hours, prompting people to switch off their air conditioners and coolers.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cold is likely to intensify across Uttar Pradesh after Diwali. Temperatures are expected to continue falling, with cold winds making their presence felt. As per information from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Amausi, Lucknow, weather conditions across the state are expected to remain dry on October 16, with no forecast of rain or strong winds. All 75 districts are currently in the green zone, meaning there is no need for any weather-related alert.

Districts where clear and stable weather is expected on Thursday include Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Agra, Varanasi, Aligarh, Jhansi, Amethi, Raebareli, Sultanpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Maharajganj, Bareilly, Rampur, Kannauj, Etawah, Mainpuri, and Shamli, among others.

Meteorologists have indicated that light cold winds from the northwest direction are now blowing across the state. These winds will gradually lower the temperature further. In the coming days, their effect will become more pronounced, and the cold is expected to intensify.
