Nairobi: The East African nation of Kenya is currently enduring one of the most severe droughts in decades. According to reports released by the United Nations and several humanitarian organizations, conditions in the country’s northeastern regions have become extremely critical, with more than two million people experiencing acute food insecurity.
The National Drought Management Authority of Kenya has reported that nearly ten districts are presently grappling with prolonged dry conditions. In Mandera County, located in northeastern Kenya along the border with Somalia, the situation has escalated to a “warning” level. This classification indicates a grave shortage of water, resulting in the death of livestock and rising cases of malnutrition among children.
