Farmers across the country are eagerly awaiting the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme. Meanwhile, the Central Government has identified over 3.1 million beneficiaries who are allegedly availing benefits in violation of the scheme’s rules. The government has now decided to take strict action against such individuals.

The Ministry of Agriculture has directed all states and union territories to complete the investigation of these suspicious cases and remove the ineligible beneficiaries from the list by October 15. This step is being taken before the release of the 21st installment.

According to the list issued by the Agriculture Ministry, investigations have been completed in about 1.9 million out of the 3.1 million identified cases so far. Findings reveal that in nearly 94% of these cases, both husband and wife were receiving benefits under the scheme.

Under the PM-Kisan Scheme, financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year is provided to eligible farmer families in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each, directly transferred to their bank accounts every four months.
