This is an age-old tradition that has been practiced across many Indian villages for generations.
Gonda: In rural areas, when a person falls ill, traditional remedies are often adopted alongside or in place of modern treatment. One such practice involves using the hibiscus flower, locally known as “Adhul,” in a ritual called “Dharkona.” In this process, the flower or its branch is gently rotated over or lightly touched against the patient’s body. It is believed that this act helps alleviate illness or removes the effects of the evil eye. This custom has been passed down through generations and continues to be followed as part of local cultural traditions.
