New Delhi. Banking operations across public sector banks nationwide may be completely disrupted on January 27. Bank employee unions have called for a nationwide strike to press their long-pending demand for a five-day workweek, which would limit work to five days a week. The strike was announced on January 23, and if it proceeds as planned, it is expected to have a significant impact on the general public as well as on commercial and financial transactions across the country.
