Bengaluru: In Mangaluru, a young man riding a two-wheeler lost his life after a head-on collision with a car allegedly driven by a police constable. Officials said the deceased has been identified as Imran Mohammad Tah, a resident of Mernabailu. At the time of the incident, the car was being driven by Constable Prasanna, who is posted with the District Crime Records (DCR-1) unit in Mangaluru.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the motorcyclist was thrown onto the windshield of the car before falling onto the road. He sustained a serious head injury and died on the spot. It is alleged that the constable fled the scene after the accident.
However, people present at the site noticed a bottle of liquor and a police cap inside the car and recorded a video, which later went viral on social media. After taking note of the video, the Superintendent of Police ordered an inquiry.
The police said that an alcohol test of the constable was conducted in the presence of the videographer and the deceased’s family members. The test results were negative, following which the Superintendent of Police ordered a blood test. A case has been registered at the Punjalkatte Police Station.
