New Delhi: Illegal migration has emerged as a serious challenge for countries across the world and, in many places, has become a significant political issue. Data from the Ministry of External Affairs indicate a steady rise in cases of Indians migrating abroad illegally.
Over the past five years, more than one lakh (100,000+) Indian nationals have been deported from 81 countries. This number has been increasing consistently. At present, an average of around 25,000 Indians are deported every year, whereas five years ago the annual figure ranged between 14,000 and 15,000.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian nationals are being deported from countries of all sizes across the globe.
