Mamata’s remark reflects a “failed administration” and “hollow leadership”— Delhi CM targets Bengal government over the rape of a student

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has sharply criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling her advice to female students — to avoid going out at night following the alleged gang rape of a medical student — disgraceful and a reflection of “the peak of political decline.”

In a social media post, CM Gupta stated that Mamata Banerjee’s comment exposes the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government’s “failed administration” and “morally hollow leadership.”

She further said that instead of ensuring justice for the rape survivor, the Bengal government is shamelessly questioning women’s freedom and rights. Gupta added that a state leader is expected to guarantee the safety and dignity of women, not impose oppressive restrictions on their freedom.

She also alleged that in Mamata’s Bengal, criminals protected by those in power roam freely, while the voices of victims seeking justice are systematically suppressed.
