New Delhi In a significant relief for H-1B visa holders, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has clarified that individuals who already possess a valid visa will not be required to pay the $100,000 fee merely to change their visa status.
According to reports, international students holding F-1 visas and professionals with L-1 visas will not have to pay any fee for a change in their visa status. Similarly, H-1B visa holders will not be required to pay the $100,000 fee for visa renewal either.
It is worth noting that U.S. President Donald Trump had announced on September 20 the imposition of a $100,000 fee for H-1B visa applications. Since September 21, applicants for new H-1B visas have been required to pay this amount. However, following the announcement, USCIS clarified that those who already hold valid visas are exempt from this fee.
