– Meets Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the main opposition party BNP
New Delhi: Clear diplomatic signals emerged during Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit to Bangladesh. Jaishankar did not hold any meeting with Mohammad Yunus, the head of Bangladesh’s interim government, underscoring the seriousness of the current strain in India–Bangladesh relations. This decision assumes greater significance in light of the fact that Nepal’s Foreign Minister Balanand Sharma and Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had met Yunus at the state guest house, Jamuna.
