New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of ₹40 lakh on IndiGo Airlines for using an unqualified flight simulator during pilot training.

An investigation revealed that the training of nearly 1,700 pilots for Category C airports—such as Calicut, Leh, and Kathmandu—was not conducted on simulators approved under regulatory norms.

On August 11, 2025, the DGCA issued a show-cause notice to IndiGo’s Director of Training. The airline submitted its response on August 22; however, the explanation was deemed unsatisfactory. Consequently, a penalty was imposed.
