Colombo: Sri Lankan batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa has clarified his earlier remarks regarding the bats used by Indian players, stating that his comments were misinterpreted. He explained that he was merely appreciating Indian cricket and the high quality of the equipment associated with the game.

Earlier, Rajapaksa had said that the bats used by Indian players appear exceptionally well-crafted, almost as if they are specially modified. He mentioned that they look as though they have a rubber coating and added that such bats are not readily available for others to purchase.

His remarks were subsequently perceived by some as allegations of bat tampering. It was also suggested that he was questioning the legitimacy of the bats used by Indian players and implying that they might be using equipment that does not conform to standard regulations.

Addressing the controversy, Rajapaksa reiterated that his comments had been taken out of context and that he had no intention of casting doubts on Indian cricketers or their equipment.
