Mumbai: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has cautioned that the Indian cricket team must remain vigilant against England all-rounder Will Jacks in the second semifinal scheduled for Thursday against England cricket team.
According to Gavaskar, Jacks is currently in impressive form, and it will be crucial for India to keep him under control. He noted that even a slight amount of assistance for spin from the pitch could make Jacks particularly challenging for the Indian side to handle.
Gavaskar further emphasized that Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya will need to shoulder significant responsibility with the bat in this high-stakes encounter. He believes the outcome of the match could largely depend on the performances of these three players.
He also pointed out that Jacks, who can come in at number seven, has the ability to alter the course of the game. Therefore, maintaining consistent pressure on him will be essential. Gavaskar compared Jacks’ role for England to the one Shivam Dube plays for India, highlighting his potential impact in the middle order.
