New Delhi: India and the United States have reached an understanding on the framework of a historic interim trade agreement, which could prove to be a milestone for the Indian economy. Sharing details of this significant development on Saturday, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said that the agreement would open up the vast US market—valued at nearly USD 30 trillion—for Indian exporters, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), farmers, and fishermen.
The most notable feature of this agreement is that India has fully safeguarded its sensitive agriculture and dairy sectors, ensuring complete protection from foreign competition.
