Impact of Conflict on Returning Expatriate Voters from Gulf Countries May Influence Kerala Assembly Elections

New Delhi: The ongoing conflict in West Asia could affect voter turnout in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, as disruptions in travel from Gulf countries may reduce the participation of expatriate voters. Political analysts suggest that while the overall impact at the state level may not be decisive, it could be noticeable in certain constituencies—particularly in northern Kerala—where a significant number of residents have migrated to Gulf nations.

In every election, thousands of Keralites working in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait return home to cast their votes. Expatriate organizations often facilitate travel arrangements, including chartered flights, to ensure higher voter participation.
