Berlin: There is significant and welcome news for Indian citizens traveling internationally. The German government has announced the introduction of a visa-free transit facility for holders of Indian passports. This means that Indian travelers will no longer need to apply separately for a transit visa when passing through Germany.
On Monday, India and Germany announced measures to enhance cooperation in key areas including defence, trade, critical minerals, and semiconductors. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in order to jointly address challenges arising from ongoing geopolitical uncertainties. As part of this collaboration, both leaders announced the visa-free transit facility for Indian passport holders transiting through Germany.
