Ahead of the conference of army chiefs from countries contributing to United Nations peacekeeping missions, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi met his French counterpart, General Pierre Schill, Chief of Staff of the French Army.
During his visit to New Delhi, General Schill toured the National Defence College and interacted with military participants. Earlier, the meeting between the two army chiefs reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening the longstanding strategic and defence partnership between India and France.
Both sides held detailed discussions on expanding the scope of joint military training exercises, enhancing counter-terrorism cooperation, and deepening collaboration in defence technology. Generals Dwivedi and Schill agreed that the India–France defence partnership is not limited to bilateral interests but also plays a vital role in maintaining global peace and stability.
They particularly emphasized the need to enhance interoperability between the two nations’ armed forces in United Nations peacekeeping operations, enabling them to function more effectively and cohesively during international missions.
