In an effort to enhance convenience for commuters, the FASTag Annual Pass has received an overwhelming response from users of national highways. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the pass has surpassed the milestone of 2.5 million users within just two months, recording approximately 56.7 million transactions nationwide.
Launched on August 15, 2025, the FASTag Annual Pass offers highway users a seamless and cost-effective travel option. It is currently applicable at around 1,150 toll plazas across national highways and expressways.
Significantly, this annual pass eliminates the need for frequent FASTag recharges by allowing users to pay a one-time fee of ₹3,000, which covers either one year of validity or up to 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes first. The pass is valid for all non-commercial vehicles with an active FASTag.
Upon paying the one-time fee through the Highway Journey App or the NHAI website, the annual pass is activated on the vehicle’s existing FASTag within two hours. The pass is non-transferable and is valid at toll plazas on National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE).
For toll plazas managed by state governments or local bodies, including state highways (SH) and expressways, the FASTag’s existing wallet balance will continue to be used for payments related to tolls and parking on those routes.
