New Delhi: Internal rifts within the Tata Group have increasingly come to light in recent times. Now, Vijay Singh — a nominated director of Tata Sons, trustee and vice-chairman of Tata Trusts, and a close associate of Ratan Tata — has made significant revelations about the ongoing internal conflict.

According to Vijay Singh, a recent voting exercise within the Tata Group has led to a split in the $180 billion conglomerate, effectively creating two factions. Four trustees of Tata Trusts collectively opposed the reappointment of Vijay Singh. The opposition was led by Mehli Mistry of the Shapoorji Pallonji (SP) Group, along with three other senior officials.

Tata Trusts holds a 66% stake in Tata Sons, giving its trustees substantial control and influence over the company’s affairs. It is evident that the trustees involved in this dispute hold the group’s real decision-making power.
