Dense Fog Slows Trains on the First Day of the New Year, Leaving Passengers Distressed

Big News Child

— Including Rajdhani and Duronto Express, dozens of trains ran several hours late

Chandauli: While the first day of the New Year 2026 was marked by celebrations across the country, with people exchanging greetings and good wishes, the difficulties faced by railway passengers remained unchanged. Due to dense fog, dozens of trains—including the Rajdhani and Duronto Express—ran several hours late on Thursday, January 1, causing significant inconvenience to travelers.

For the past fortnight, persistent heavy fog has disrupted rail services on the Delhi–Howrah route. Trains passing through Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction—whether the Patna Tejas Rajdhani Express, Sealdah Express, Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express, Howrah Rajdhani Express, or other mail and express services—have been operating with delays of several hours for many consecutive days. This pattern continued unabated on the very first day of the New Year, adding to the hardships of rail passengers.
