Cyclone Montha Hits Odisha After Wreaking Havoc in Andhra Pradesh; Winds Reach 100 kmph

New Delhi: Cyclone Montha made landfall at Gopalpur Beach in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Wednesday morning, bringing with it strong winds and heavy rainfall. High waves were seen rising in the sea, while wind speeds reached between 80 and 100 kilometers per hour.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the impact of the cyclone will continue for the next six hours despite the landfall. After causing significant destruction in Andhra Pradesh, Montha’s effects have now begun to be felt across several districts of Odisha.

Heavy rain and strong winds have been forecast for eight districts — Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.
