Beijing. The British Prime Minister’s recent visit to China has stirred significant activity in international diplomatic circles. At a time when the trade war and strategic rivalry between the United States and China are at their peak, the growing closeness between London and Beijing has not been well received in Washington. During the visit, the Prime Minister’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping not only marked the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral relations but also resulted in several economic agreements that have heightened concerns within the U.S. administration. The United States has clearly indicated that such deepening engagement with China could prove risky for the United Kingdom in the future.
