Brasília. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has made a strong statement on the international stage regarding the role of the United Nations and the approach of former U.S. President Donald Trump. He alleged that Trump seeks to create a new version of the United Nations over which he would exercise complete control. Speaking at a public event in Brazil’s Bahia state, Lula stated clearly that the world is currently passing through an extremely fragile political phase. According to him, the existing global order is moving away from multilateralism toward unilateralism, where powerful nations dominate international relations at their own discretion. He expressed concern that, in this process, the UN Charter and its core principles are being steadily undermined.
