Islamabad: Pakistan’s Balochistan province—long associated with instability and conflict—has now emerged as a new focal point of economic rivalry among global superpowers. Beneath Balochistan’s arid terrain lie vast reserves of gold, silver, and copper, which have increasingly drawn international attention. The United States has now set its sights on these resources. Under his ambitious Project Vault initiative, President Donald Trump has made a landmark announcement of a $1.3 billion investment (approximately ₹1.17 lakh crore) in the renowned Reko Diq mine in Balochistan, marking a significant development in the region’s strategic and economic landscape.
