Dehradun: The busiest commercial hub of the state capital, Paltan Market, was shaken on Monday morning when a 23-year-old woman was brutally murdered in broad daylight in the Machhi Market area after being attacked with a cleaver. The deceased has been identified as Gunjan, also known as Gunnu.
Outraged by the audacious crime, traders raised serious questions over the prevailing security arrangements, shut down the entire market, and staged strong protests against the police administration. In view of the tense situation, heavy police deployment was enforced across Paltan Market, Dhamawala, Moti Bazaar, Dispensary Road, and surrounding localities to maintain law and order.
