New Delhi: The Afghanistan team will have to play the one-off Test against India, scheduled to be held in Mullanpur in June, without their star spinner Rashid Khan. The reason is that doctors have advised Rashid to give proper rest to his back. Currently participating in the IPL, Rashid has been told by medical experts that if he wants to prolong his career, he should stay away from Test cricket. Consequently, he will miss the match.
Rashid stated that his priority is to regain full fitness with a focus on the ODI World Cup set to take place in South Africa in 2027. He had undergone back surgery after the 2023 ODI World Cup. He further mentioned that although doctors had advised him to avoid Test cricket, he still played a Test match against Zimbabwe last year, during which he bowled 54 overs.
