Afghanistan to Enter T20 World Cup Under Rashid’s Captaincy

Kabul: Afghanistan has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held next month in India and Sri Lanka. The team will be led by star spinner Rashid Khan, while Ibrahim Zadran has been appointed vice-captain.

Ahead of the World Cup, the Afghan side is also set to play a three-match T20 series against the West Indies.

For the global tournament, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Gulbadin Naib have been included in the squad. Both players were previously omitted from the team for the recent tour of Bangladesh. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Naveen-ul-Haq have also been named in the World Cup squad.
