New Delhi: Strengthening the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia, a grand presentation of the ‘Global Dance Overture’ was held on 3 March 2026 at Kamani Theatre. The internationally acclaimed Kostroma Russian National Ballet delivered a captivating performance on the occasion.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, who graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Among the distinguished attendees were Denis Alipov, Ambassador of Russia to India; Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi; and Elena Tsarenko, Director of the Kostroma Ballet.
The Russian National Dance Show showcased Russia’s rich and diverse cultural heritage through vibrant costumes and traditional choreography. This remarkable production has previously enthralled over seven million spectators across 50 countries worldwide.
During the program, Indian artists presented a dance performance titled “Jayati Jai Mama Bharatam,” bringing together the diverse folk traditions of India on a single stage.
Earlier, on 2 March, a workshop was organized at the Meghdoot Theatre in Rabindra Bhavan in collaboration with the Sangeet Natak Akademi. The workshop facilitated a meaningful cultural exchange focused on Indian and Russian dance traditions.
The event is regarded as a significant milestone in India–Russia cultural cooperation, highlighting dance as a powerful medium of international friendship.
