New Delhi, 25 November (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kurukshetra on Tuesday for a historic visit, leading a commemorative programme dedicated to the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the revered ninth Sikh Guru widely honoured as “Hind Di Chadar”.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary reflected a deep homage to India’s spiritual heritage and an emphasis on the nation’s collective memory.
Monumental Inaugurations and Cultural Homage
At around 4:00 PM, PM Modi inaugurated the newly constructed ‘Panchjanya’, a monumental installation honouring the legendary conch shell associated with Lord Krishna. The unveiling of the structure serves as a tribute to the enduring symbol of virtue and righteousness from the Mahabharata, further underlining the city’s unique ties to India’s epic narratives.
The Prime Minister then toured the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, an immersive experiential centre at Jyotisar, bringing to life significant episodes from the Mahabharata and showcasing the epic’s deep-seated cultural and spiritual legacy.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Diwas Observance
By 4:30 PM, Modi joined a special congregation commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister released a special coin and a commemorative postal stamp, underlining the government’s year-long tributes to this Sikh luminary’s indomitable commitment to justice, unity, and religious freedom.
