Puttaparthi: President Droupadi Murmu graced a special session today to commemorate the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, lauding his profound legacy of linking spirituality with selfless service and personal transformation.
In her address at Prasanthi Nilayam, the President emphasized that Sri Sathya Sai Baba inspired millions by championing the belief that “service to humanity is service to God.”
A Legacy of Selfless Service
President Murmu highlighted Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s role in guiding society, stating that he holds a special place among the great saints and sages of India who have worked for the welfare of humanity.
She noted that his teachings, particularly the messages “Love All, Serve All” and “Help Ever, Hurt Never,” are both eternal and universal. The President commended his approach of orienting spirituality towards public welfare and personal change, which has inspired a global following.
Social Welfare and Nation-Building
The President praised the tangible outcomes of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s ideals, as demonstrated by the extensive social welfare work carried out by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. She acknowledged the provision of high-quality free education and medical care, which integrate academic and character development.
President Murmu also recalled the visionary project that supplied drinking water to numerous drought-affected villages in the region as a testament to his commitment to societal well-being.
A Call for Collective Contribution
In her concluding remarks, President Murmu underscored the significant role that spiritual organizations can play in nation-building, in line with the “Nation First” spirit. She called upon all charitable organizations, NGOs, the private sector, and individual citizens to contribute to the government’s efforts to foster an environment where every Indian can utilize their talents for national development.
The President expressed her belief that such collective action will be instrumental in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.
