Dhaka, Bangladesh: A moderate earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 5.2 struck parts of Bangladesh and India on Friday morning, with tremors felt in the Bangladesh capital. The earthquake occurred at approximately 10:08 a.m. local time.

Initial reports place the epicenter just 7 kilometers from Ghorashal, a town in the Narsingdi district near Dhaka. At present, there are no immediate official reports of casualties or significant structural damage.

Tremors were felt in various parts of Northeast India, including Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, and Mizoram. Residents in cities like Agartala, Guwahati, and Karimganj reported feeling the quake, which prompted many to rush out of their homes in panic. The tremors were also felt in Itanagar, Kohima, and Imphal.
