India’s star table tennis player, Manika Batra, has raised concerns regarding the selection process after being left out of the Indian squad for the 2026 Asian Games. Expressing disappointment over her exclusion from the main team, she stated that the selection criteria should be more transparent and fair. Instead of being included in the primary squad, she has been placed on the list of reserve players, a decision that has also surprised many sports enthusiasts.
Through social media, Manika voiced her dissatisfaction, saying that no clear explanation was provided for her omission from the main team. She alleged that different standards were applied during this selection cycle, whereas the rules followed in previous cycles were not the same. Manika has urged the Sports Ministry and the Indian Olympic Association to review the matter and ensure greater transparency and fairness in future selection procedures.
