New Delhi: Recently, the Ministry of AYUSH shared important guidance regarding Bhujangasana and highlighted its significant benefits in strengthening the lower back, spine, and shoulders. However, experts also warned that performing the posture incorrectly may lead to physical strain or injury.
Bhujangasana, commonly known as the Cobra Pose, resembles the raised hood of a cobra, where the upper body lifts upward while the lower body remains grounded. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, many individuals unknowingly make small yet important mistakes while practicing this yoga posture, which can place unnecessary pressure on the lower back, neck, and shoulders.
Health experts explained that some of the most common errors include spreading the elbows outward, lifting the shoulders toward the ears, excessively arching the lower back, tightening the glute muscles too much, and allowing the heels to turn outward. Such mistakes may create improper stress on muscles and joints, increasing the risk of injuries or worsening existing physical problems.
