Chennai: Veteran former off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will now feature in the Major League Cricket (MLC) T20 competition in the United States. He has signed a contract with the San Francisco Unicorns franchise for participation in the league. With this move, Ashwin is poised to become the first Indian cricketer to play in the American league.
Ashwin had announced his retirement from international cricket in December 2024. Following that, he represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in last year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), but did not achieve notable success. Subsequently, he decided to step away after the league, which has now led him to explore opportunities in overseas competitions.
